How wonderful that you checked out my work and found my episode on Matt and Cynthia! Your comment on Matt's site was fabulous. It likely went to waste on the person you responded to, but isn't that often the case? I was really glad to see someone with direct and personal, even intimate experience refute one of the armchair blowhards.
I'm having a vigorous debate with Matt and others on his Eurasia Transportation post. Somehow the thread turned to the Articles of Confederation and what size is best for economic sovereignty. It's so fun to be able to engage with differing ideas with someone I admire so much. And my respect for Cynthia grows with every article of hers I read.
Just saw this piggybacking off your "Hopium" article. So solid. Corbett and Ehret/Chung might differ on the merits/validity of the New Silk Road project as an alternative, but I'm sure they're in accord on the themes you pursue here. I highly respect all three of them , differences and all. Wonderful presentation, thank you.
I saw that you segued from the Hopium, I'm so glad you did! Yes I suspect there are things they differ on. It seems to me that James is not as keen on China, and I have my reservations too. But I was really pleased to find them all examining WWII so matter-of-factly. Thanks for reading!
I'm so glad you liked it, Samantha. They are both treasures and I really enjoy their thoughts on such a wide range of topics! It amazes me that anyone can be as deeply read and researched as they are and have such breadth.
I love Matt Ehret and Cynthia Chung’s writings. I’m in Canada. During these dark days, I feel glad they’re here with us.
Loved this commentary of yours.
